SUGARLOAF HELMET

SKU: AH1305

#

MILD STEEL

DESCRIPTION

Without even reading the name, you can easily tell that the Sugar Loaf Helmet is named after the traditional form that refined sugar was sold in. These tall cones with rounded tops were believed to have been made as far back as the 12th century in Jordan. However, through the 14th through the 16th centuries, they become quite popular in England, German, France, Holland and Belgium, just as this style of helmet also became popular.

Crafted from 20-gauge steel, the Sugar Loaf Helmet provides full head protection and was a favorite choice to wear during the Crusades. The conical top takes a blow to the head a little easier than flat-topped varieties worn previously ever could. It has been fully lined and given plenty of ventilation holes so it is ready to wear for reenactment or costume
